Migrating from Stape to DataNostro in 5 days: the process, FAQ, financial impact

What a migration really involves: DNS, the GTM container, monitoring via a parallel run, back-validation in GA4 / Meta. Plus the STAPE-MIGRATION-15 discount and the Care concierge.

Migrating sGTM hosting sounds complicated, but it isn't. If you have Stape with one container ID and 3–5 platforms (a typical CZ store), it's 4 hours of work + 5 days of parallel running for validation. Here's the process we use in Care.

When it makes sense to migrate

  • You pay in USD and want an invoice in CZK with ISDOC
  • You need Sklik or Heureka (Stape supports neither)
  • You want EU-only data residency and CZ support during business hours
  • You want to save 10–15% with no loss of capacity

When not to migrate

  • You depend on the Stape Store NoSQL DB with 1000+ keys
  • You need a dedicated IP or a HIPAA BAA (the DataNostro Custom plan can do it, but it's a design conversation)
  • You manage a mobile SDK + Stape iOS / Android — DataNostro doesn't have an SDK yet

Step 1: Inventory

Export from Stape:

  • The Container ID (Stape shows it in the dashboard)
  • The tracking subdomain (e.g. track.store.cz)
  • Platform configs — Pixel ID, Access Token, GA4 Measurement ID, etc.
  • Power-ups settings — Cookie Keeper, Custom Loader, Anonymizer rules
  • API keys (Klaviyo, HubSpot, etc.)

Step 2: DataNostro setup

In DataNostro, create a tenant and import the Container ID. The container deploy runs in parallel on a new subdomain (e.g. track2.store.cz) — with no disruption to Stape.

Fill in the platform configs. Power-ups are bundled (no per-feature paywall like the Stape Custom plan).

Step 3: Parallel DNS

For a week, both hosts run in parallel. In the GTM web container, split traffic 50/50 between track.store.cz (Stape) and track2.store.cz (DataNostro). You watch:

  • GA4 reports — do the event counts match?
  • Meta Ads Manager — do the Purchase, AddToCart, ViewContent counts match?
  • Sklik / Heureka — if you're connecting for the first time, it's pure upside

Step 4: Cutover

After 5–7 days of parallel running, when the data matches across both hosts, you point the track.store.cz CNAME to DataNostro. You turn off the Stape container (it's kept for 30 days in the Stape archive for rollback).

Discount + Care

FAQ

What about the Container ID? The Container ID in GTM stays the same. You only change the tracking server URL in the Web GTM container.

Stape Store data — does it come with me? Stape Store has no export. If you have data there, export it manually via the Stape API and import it into the DataNostro Store (endpoint parity).

Will there be a gap in my Ads campaigns? No, the parallel run + deduplication via event_id guarantees 0 ms of downtime.
